Countries that host the Olympics must show they have capacity space to hold the games and invest their own money into them. Through the influx of tourists the hosting country hope to gain more money during the Olympics. Ultimately the IOC decide which country gets to host them.

In 2012, the Olympics were held in London, United Kingdom. It was the third time London had hosted the games, the Olympics were hold there in 1908 and 1948. One of the upset games was in shot put, Valerie Adams claimed the gold medal only after it was found that her Belorussian opponent had tested positive for drugs.
